After-School Clubs At St Margaret's

At St Margaret’s, we are committed to providing our pupils with a diverse range of stimulating and creative enrichment opportunities that are of a high quality outside of the usual curriculum to foster and develop our pupils talents and interests. These opportunities come in many forms at St Margaret’s with one being after-school clubs/events.

After-school clubs/events are an important and exciting feature of school life at St Margaret’s and contribute greatly to our pupils’ academic, personal and social development. Our aim is to develop learners who are creative, curious, compassionate, resilient, responsible, well-rounded citizens who are confident to explore and develop themselves through new experiences and challenges. These values are embedded through the wide range of after-school clubs available to our pupils, each lasting until 4:25pm, at a cost of £16 per half-term.

We cater to an assortment of interests. These range from different sports and fitness classes to creative arts, LEGO groups, gardening, cooking, computing and even photography! Some sporting clubs include the opportunity to join teams to compete against other schools too.

Parents/carers can book places for an after-school club through the School Gateway app. If you have any difficulties accessing the app, please email admin@st-margarets.manchester.sch.uk and the school office will be more than happy to support you.

After-school Clubs: Our Pupils' Perspective

“I like dance club because it is fun and we get to dance to new songs. We practise dance moves and we get better each week.”

“Digital arts is my favourite club because you get to do art on the laptops which is fun and creative. We made dragons and maps. I like that we can make dragons in our D/T lessons and then draw dragons in digital art. I liked doing maps because we do maps in Geography too.”

Year one pupils

"I love Lego club, I get to build anything from my imagination."

"I like homework club, it gives me more time at home to do the things I enjoy doing."

Year two pupils

“I like homework club because we get help with our homework and then play games which helps us make friends with other children.”

“I love Basketball club because I get to exercise in a club that’s fun and exciting. It's helped me to improve my basketball skills.”

Year three pupils

"I signed up to musical theatre because I like dancing and I get to dance a lot. We get to listen to some of our favourite pop songs."

"I like the Ethos club because we get to learn about homeless people and we are planning ways to help people in need. We also get to learn about our human rights."

"I like football club because they make the teams fair and the coaches are helpful and fair. They show us respect and make us feel better when we're feeling down."

"I signed up for gardening club so that I can learn how to plant things and help my mum out at home."

Year four pupils

"Football club has allowed me to make new friends in different classes and year groups."

"Musical theatre club helps me to move my body and feel energetic. It is a new experience and I look forward to it every week."

Year five pupils

"Photography club helped me learn about what you need to use to make a good photo. You take pictures by yourself of other people, and you're doing it not other people - you're being responsible."

"In my opinion, all the clubs are a great way to express yourself and help you learn about topics that you like doing or things that you learn about in school. Even if you were to go different clubs, you may find out that you like doing it; it could even be something you want do in later life."

"Football club helps me to believe in myself because if I am hurt or I do not win, the coach tells me to believe in yourself and let it go, keep on playing."
