Our Learning in Spring 1

In Spring 1 our theme will be 'Traditional Tales'. We will be reading lots of traditional tales but our main focus texts will be 'Little Red Riding Hood', 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.' The children will become very familiar with these stories and will practice retelling the stories, acting them out and creating story maps. 

In maths, the children will be focusing on showing finger numbers to five, counting objects to five and subitising (knowing how many objects there are without counting). We will also begin to represent numbers in lots of different ways.

In our other areas of learning we will be developing our turn-taking and sharing skills, learning to name different feelings, investigating different types of materials, practicing our mark making, learning to throw objects outside, learning new songs and exploring rhythm and rhyme.
