Our Learning in Spring 2

This half term in Nursery, the children will engage in an broad range of learning experiences linked to our topic 'Modern Tales'. In literacy, we will be looking at the following texts 'The Gruffalo' by Julia Donaldson, 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen and 'Stickman' by Julia Donaldson. The children will immerse themselves in these texts; creating storymaps, acting the stories out and describing the characters using adjectives.

In Maths, the children will deepen their knowledge of number and will start to compare sets saying which has more or less. They will also create and extend their own AB patterns using natural materials and will recognise, name and describe 3D shapes and their properties.

In PSE, the children will learn about how to keep themselves safe within the nursery setting and at home. We will sort images into safe and unsafe and talk about what necessary precautions we need to take, such as wearing a helmet when riding a bike and looking both ways before crossing the road.

In KUW, the children will learn more about the weather and seasonal changes. We will begin a 'weather watch' and record the changes that we notice throughout Spring. We will also be going on a Spring Hunt in our school grounds, looking for the different signs of Spring.
